WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - A man was arrested following a standoff in West Monroe on Saturday afternoon, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO) announced.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., OPSO reported that a man was threatening to kill himself with a gun inside a home on Lynn Street while streaming the incident on a social media platform.
When deputies arrived, they escorted two individuals out of the home. During this process, deputies observed the man holding a knife to his neck.
After the man returned inside, deputies communicated with him by phone. OPSO’s SWAT team responded, and after a brief standoff, the man exited the home without incident.
He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Upon release, he will face charges related to firearms and drugs, deputies said.
